π’ Important Update for All DrukBees Clients β GST Implementation by 2026
As Bhutan prepares to roll out the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2026, hereβs what it means for you when shopping with DrukBees:
β No more Bhutan Sales Tax (BST):
- The current BST system will be completely removed.
- This also means the E-Commerce allowance of BTN 10,000 (without BST) will no longer apply.
β What replaces it?
- A flat GST of 5% will be applied on all goods, regardless of value.
- Unlike today, there will be no tax-free allowance under GST.
βοΈ Comparison with Current System:
- Now: If you buy goods above BTN 10,000, you pay BST on the excess only.
- From 2026: BST will be gone. Every purchase, big or small, will have a 5% GST.
π Third Country Imports (Thailand, China β Lazada, AliExpress, DHGate, etc.):
- Customs Duty (CD) allowance of BTN 10,000 still applies.
- You only pay CD on the amount exceeding BTN 10,000.
- But remember: GST (5%) will still be charged on all imports.
π¦ What this means for you:
- Every item ordered through DrukBees will carry GST.
- The old BST allowance of BTN 10,000 will no longer be available.
- CD rules remain the same for third-country imports.
π DrukBees will implement these changes as required by law starting 2026.
We encourage all our clients to prepare in advance and stay informed.
